Questions for NextBolt NX5-SN High Security Edition

The lock is not easily recognizing fingerprints or has stopped recognizing fingerprints.

Failure to recognize a fingerprint has a 99% chance of being a bad or poor quality enrollment. If you have a poor enroll this will considerably effect the performance of the lock in everyday use.

Here are a few additional tips that will help (we suggest you review all 5 of the following steps before attempting again):

1. When enrolling make sure you do not move your finger until you either hear 4 beeps or 1 long beep. 1 Long beep tells you your fingerprint is accepted and added, 4 beeps indicates your finger could not be read OR that in the case of fingerprints 2-99 that the administrator authorization was not accepted.

2. It's best if the finger being is enrolled is not completely dry during enrollment. Only a very light amount of moisture is needed to enhance the fingerprint quality. A greese free moisturizer or even rubbing your finger on your forehead can make the difference. This is only needed to get a good enroll, for daily use this is not needed if the enroll is high quality.

3. For difficult users create additional enrollments for them. The more data the lock has to work with the more likely it will work smoothly. Simply add that user again (without deleting their first one). NextBolt locks store 99 users so for most peole adding more is not a problem.

4. Inspect the finger being enrolled. Choose a finger that has the most visible definition. Often is this not the index finger but the adjacent finger. This is especially true in children or people over 70 years of age.

5. When enrolling place your finger flatly with the center of your finger in the center of the pad. Do not enroll using the finger tip or the sides.

Please note: If you have a bad quality fingerprint enrolled in slow #1 (the first adminstrator) you cannot add more users and must reset the lock back to factory defaults.

We now also offer fingerprint ENHANCEMENT pads for the locks for those who are having trouble enrolling. To use just wipe your finger with the enhancer pad prior to the enroll (it is never needed again after that – only for enrollment). The pads increase the data points during the enroll by 95%. 2 of these pads are included for free with your NextBolt lock. The pads can also be purchased inexpensively in packs of 5 using this link: http://www.advancedactuators.com/locks-fingerprint-enhancement-pads-5--52/

The Nextbolt includes many improvements related to fingerprint recognition rates which include a new next generation sensor, a new coating on the optics and a new matching algorithm. Contact your reseller if you have any questions about the Nextbolt series locks.
